Below is a sample resume which you may use as template for your own. Please realize that in the area of library services most firms want to know your skill sets, which really should start at the begining of your resume.

Try not to list applications that our outdated or not used anymore and list your library skill sets first, then your operating systems, then include all any others (again refer to sample). All resumes should adhere to a paragraph to be no longer than four lines, then skip a line. This is true even when using bullets.

If you do not adhere to this principle your resume becomes too cluttered and uninteresting. Try not to fill it up all on one page. Two pages are fine. Sometimes you do yourself an injustice by trying to put it all on one page. Using a smaller font only makes it more dificult to read.

Please be advised this is just a guideline. Your resume should be for a business library no more than two pages. Paragraphs even with bullets should not be longer than four lines, the content tends to get lost. The objective is subjective and I put it in for people that may want one.

One page resumes tend to be too brief for the library profession. So you are really doing yourself and injustice by doing so. Good luck in your search and if we can answer any of your questions feel free to call us. Library or records career pe
